What Is Polyaspartic?
Polyaspartic is a fast-curing, two-component polyurea-based coating originally developed in the 1990s for industrial steel coatings. Over the last decade it has become the gold standard topcoat for concrete floor systems because it solves nearly every weakness of traditional epoxy. Where epoxy clear coats yellow under UV light, polyaspartic stays clear forever. Where epoxy takes 12–24 hours to cure between coats and 3–5 days to handle vehicle traffic, polyaspartic cures in 1–2 hours and accepts foot traffic the same day. Where epoxy is brittle and prone to chipping, polyaspartic flexes with the concrete substrate. Every MLC Epoxy Floors floor — flake, metallic, or solid color — is finished with two coats of premium polyaspartic. It is the single most important reason our floors stay looking new for 15+ years.
